Relativity governs all that we experience through the senses.

Seeing the sun move straight across the sky throughout the day is an example of a trick of consciousness.

If the human eyes were constructed like little microscopes we would see a completely deferent world in front of us.

We would see huge hosts of animals and plants, in the form of microbes floating about us in the air where now we see just empty space.

Or if our eyes were like little telescopes the sky would look totally at night.

A smooth tabletop would reveal huge mountains and valleys. Which perception is more real, the smooth tabletop or the rough one?

The cherished fixity of time that we normally possess was shown by Einstein to be an illusion in that it can be slowed down or speeded up depending on how fast we are moving through space.

Another common experience we generally accept without reflection is the solidity of matter.

Physicists who study quantum mechanics have shown that the solidity of matter is really a myth.

Matter, including your body, is made up of waves of energy.
This is common knowledge in the field of physics and chemistry.
The solidity you feel when you touch something is due to the resistive effect of particles pushing against each other.

The resistive effect is strongest in solids where atomic particles are stacked closely together; less so in liquids in which particles are more loosely packed, and it is weakest in gasses because the particles there are very loose.

There are two states to everything, the way it appears to our senses and the way the thing is in its real nature.

It’s like seeing the shadow of a man and seeing the man himself.

When we see anything we are seeing it only how it appears to our senses but not how the thing is in its real nature.

When you look at a book lying on your desk for instance, it looks unmoving and feels solid when you touch it but in fact it is swarming with electrons and protons swirling around at great speeds.

Nowhere in the universe is there anything at rest. Motion governs everything.

The appearance of stability that we perceive through the senses is exactly that—only appearances.

Since every particle in the universe is in ceaseless motion this shows that the whole universe is really a continuous process like a factory rather than a static thing.

The whole universe is consisted of particle/waves of energy.

But what is energy. No one has ever seen energy. No one has ever experienced pure isolated energy by itself. You can only experience various transformation of energy such as light, heat, sound etc., Energy in and of itself has never been perceived.

So what really is energy? It is an expression of cosmic Mind.

Though all substances are composed of particles rotating at prodigious speeds yet we never see this whirling motion as an everyday experience. Here is a great paradox.

Matter is in motion yet at the same time we see it at perfect rest like the book sitting on our desk.

How can these two ideas be reconciled?

If we see something at perfect rest and science tells us that it is really in a state of continual restlessness, then the anomaly must be in our own perception, that is, in our own consciousness.

The paradox disappears when we realized that our space-time world is really mentally made.

The stability we see is really a mentally constructed one!

Our thinking and feeling make up the world for us, without your thinking of the world, it doesn’t exit for you.

Easy example, when you dream at nights the world you know during your waking hours completely disappears simply because you are not thinking of it anymore and a new one based on your dreaming experience comes into existence.

Both worlds are made up of your thoughts. From this we can see that the mind and the world are inextricably intertwined.

Mind as the non-material essence is the ultimate stuff out of which both energy and matter are made.

When we use the word “Mind” in this discourse it is never a reference to the brain.

Ultimately brain is a product of mind. Mind is not a product of the brain.

THE WORLD’S RELAVITY

Mind is the only substance that exists in the universe.

That is why the only way that you can experience something is in your mind.

You cannot step outside of your own mind.

Your experiences of the world seem to take place outside of your mind.

The experience certainly takes place outside of your brain but not as you might so fondly think outside your mind.

When you see something with your eyes you have to mentally recognize that it’s there before you are actually able to perceive it.

That is, you have to think it before it will exist for you.

Only as you are mentally conscious of what the senses tell you are you conscious of the world at all.

The world is a mental experience. No matter what, you can’t get over this mentallness of the world.

The whole universe is a mental experience and not merely a mental representation of a separate material thing.

This is an astounding idea but it can be seen clearly through a sequence of reasoned thinking and a reorientation of consciousness through advanced meditation.

The hardened materialist may now pertinently object that this argument doesn’t make any sense at all if I’m trying to say that the universe doesn’t exist except as a mere idea in people’s minds.

The objection could further be made that the dinosaurs shouldn’t have existed—for which there in irrefutable proof of their existence—for then there were no humans there millions of years ago when the earth was young to think them into existence.

The religious critic also may say that no human was present when god created the world so the world can exists without human minds to think it into existence.

The conclusion of the objection is that the world is not our idea for even if no human is observing it, it does not vanish.

In answer to this objection let’s first realize that no idea can stand by itself. An idea needs a mind in which to exist.

The tree of idea needs the ground of mind in which to spread its roots. To believe that any idea can exist without a mind in which to exist is to believe an absurdity.

To think of the world at all presupposes the simultaneous existence of a thinking mind.

The thinking self is surrounded by the not-self.

A self exist because it has a world to know as a not-self.

So without the world the self could not exist. But if the self is not there then the world is not there either.

The latter condition exists when there is a state of total unconsciousness. In unconsciousness there is no self and consequently, there is no world.

The self exists through its world and its world exists through it.

But the objection can now be made: that simply because one is unconscious doesn’t mean that the world doesn’t exist.

Think more closely about this objection, the objector is thinking about a world that still exists while he is unconscious.

For the world to exist he still has to think of it.

He has to necessarily set up an imagined observer who is thinking of the world.

No matter what he does he can’t get away from thinking of the world for it to exist at all.

The same thing goes for the earth or the universe when there were no humans to observe it.

You unconsciously set up an observer to see it, and then you proceeded to talk about it.

When you think of it you must necessarily think of it appearing to a consciousness.

The moment you think of it you set up a mind to which it appears. That is, it becomes an object of consciousness.

Try to describe a place that you’ve probably heard about but never visited. In order to do that you must first put yourself into the position of someone visiting the place.

You must first see yourself as an observer of the place, and only then begin to do the description.

If you try to see or describe the earth as it was before any human ever existed, you must first put yourself into the position of some being seeing the uninhabited planet.

In other worlds a world without a presupposed observer of that world simply does not exist.

Try to think of a world that is not known or observed.

You cannot because the moment you think of such a world you automatically set up a hidden observer to see that world.

There is no existence which is not known existence.

We are not saying a mountain disappears when there’s no one there to view it or that it exists simply because people are there to think of it, or that the world disappears when we are not thinking of it.

Obviously, those would be absurd statements. What these pages assert is that the world’s existence in itself without a knowing mind alongside it can never be established.

When you think of the world existing independently you unconsciously assumes the presence of such knowing mind.

A world which is not an object of consciousness is yet to be found! If you try to think of a mindless world the feat becomes impossible.

Existence presupposes life, and life presupposes intelligence, and that in turn points to mind.

Our world is really a thought form much the same way the world of our nightly dream is.

Only, the wakeful world seems more real because it is imbued with the presence of a hidden Super Mind.

The Super Mind is so powerful it is able to present to us the picture of a whole universe in a convincingly mesmeric way.

Our sense impressions do not come from a separate material world.

They are from the combined creative power of our own mind and the hidden Super Mind that exists deep below our everyday consciousness.

Everything is an idea. There is no such thing as solid substances such as iron, wood or concrete, just the idea that there is.

To know how this works, think of a very vivid dream in which you bump your head on a metal railing.

You know upon awakening that the very solid railing no less than the very convincing hurt from the accident was all concocted by the mind.

Consciousness created a world and then turned around and presented that same world to itself as if it were real.

The same thing is happening in the waking word.

Albeit on a stronger level for now super consciousness, the consciousness of the super mind is running the show.

Again, this greater super conscious mind exists at a deeper level inside our own consciousness.

This waking-world-dream seems infinitely more real due to the tremendous mesmeric power of the super conscious mind projecting the world-idea through us.

Thus your world is created from inside of your own consciousness and not from the outside.

Indeed it is a form taken by your own consciousness.

The idea of an all-intelligent super mind existing in the subconscious layer of your own being which is the true generator of all your experiences may seem preposterous and even shocking.

But you have no right to insist on making the world an object of consciousness only to a being possessed of five senses, that is to say, only to a human or animal being.

This would be an anthropomorphism of experience, an illegitimate setting up of a limited experience as being the highest possible form of all experience.

Existence cannot be limited to the five senses only.

Even a little reflection will show you how absurdly limited your consciousness really is.

One example is that your consciousness cannot even directly perceive the millions of microbes that fill the air. Man cannot be the last word in nature.

The universe is in a sorry state if all that is has to show for all its eons of effort is human consciousness.

It is unreasonable to believe that when there are myriad of life-forms in the universe below humans in the scale of evolution, that there cannot also be some other forms above human.

Or even that there cannot be some form of supreme intelligence which takes a cosmic view of things.

It would then be impertinent indeed to foist on such a superior intelligence only the five senses developed by man’s partial experience.

This superior all-inclusive intelligence would be universal, primal, and self-subsistent.

Such a boundless mind would be the necessary observer of an uninhabited world or an unvisited scene.

This cosmic mind would be observing the universe at all times, that is, the universe would be an idea within it.

We, of this space-time world, experience the same world because one universal cosmic super mind is thinking it through us.

We are co-creators with God. Individual minds exist in the larger cosmic mind much like how individual cells exist in one human body, our individual mind and the super conscious universal mind work together to create the world that you know.

The whole universe is nothing but a mere thought in this cosmic mind thus making this super mind the “soul” of the universe—as it were.

Now the objection can be raised that if everything is really mental and existing in mind why do outward things seem real while personal thoughts seem unreal?

A part of the answer to that question is that a thing like the chair that you are sitting on, or your body for that matter, is a thought held in cosmic mind while the image of the same chair in your mind is a thought generated solely by your own individual mind, but the fact is that they are still both mental.

The other reason why one seems more real than the other is the result of concentrated attention.

If you can muster sufficient concentrated attention on a private mental image it can assume the reality of a physical thing.

That is, it can seem to assume the same reality as a cosmic-mind object.

Again, the external world seems more real than the internal because the mind is sharply and continuously focused when outwardly turned but vaguely and fitfully focused when inwardly turned.

The result of the first activity is external physical experience and of the second, internal imaginative experience.

But they are both made of the same stuff—so to speak.

It’s all about the strength and focus of attention.

Therefore you can get an “external” world every time attention is sharply focused.

This is demonstrated every time you experience a very vivid dream.
An ardently devoted mystic or a truly inspired artist can experience “alternate realities” just by being sharply focused, meditating deeply on his or her ideal saint in the first case, or being totally indulged in his or her artistic production in the second.

This teaching doesn’t deny that external things seem quite different from internal thoughts but it emphatically deny that—however solid those external things they maybe—they can possibly exist outside the mind’s own experience.

We know only our mental states although some of them appear as “things”.

We know only our mental images although some of them appear to be outside.
There is nothing outside of consciousness.

Everything is inside. Indeed everything is a form taken by consciousness.

Your body and everything around it, all other objects, and the space in which they exist are all mentally made.

They exist in consciousness in the same manner in which a vivid dream exists in consciousness.

Their substance is really made up of pure consciousness.

The weakness of private thoughts, and the strength of sense impressions, and the difference in sharpness between the two, deceive you into non-recognition of their concealed sameness.

You may need to do an intellectual somersault to see life from this perspective.

For it contradicts your whole traditional, cherished way of viewing yourself and your surroundings.

You might find incredulous the concept that your whole life is really like a dream.

The cosmic mind possesses the power to project its thought-forms on us who are individual minds within it.

The thought-form of the world is imposed upon us whether we want it or not.
But it does not come from an external source. It comes through us from within, from the super mind.

God is looking—through you—at God’s own thoughts in the form of an external world in the same way that you look at your own thoughts in the form of an external world when you dream at nights.

The one cosmic mind projects its own images—what we know as the cosmos—unto its own consciousness, then turns around and view it as if it were external to itself.

The individual mind does the same thing when it experiences nightly dreams.

The universe is God’s dream. But it is not an ordinary dream. It is not like most humans’ dreams.

When humans dream they have no idea that they are experiencing a dream but mistakenly think that they are still in a waking world.

That is, except the very few people who have mastered the art of lucid dreaming and can know that they are dreaming while in a dream.

When God dreams, our universe is born as God’s lucid dream. Humans and everything else in the universe are dream-ideas in the mind of God.

But at the same time, don’t make the mistake of having a mental picture of God as a huge man somewhere that is sleeping and dreaming of the universe.

God is not a being who has a mind in the familiar way in which we think about mind.

God is not a human being, a person, or individual. God is Mind. Super mind.

A better mental image of God would be a vast, silent, void, filled with a kind of intelligent energy from which everything evolves and dissolves.

That is still not what God is but it can be a good image to satisfy a limited human mind.

The super mind knows that it is dreaming while it is doing so, while we usually can’t tell that we are in a dream whether we are experiencing our individual mind’s familiar nightly dream world or the cosmic mind’s dream world which appears as our waking world.

The only reason why you cannot ordinarily perceive the dream nature of the world is because you have unconsciously set up the existence of matter as an entity in itself.

You have in fact imagined the materiality of the world through taking it for granted.

For life has planted you in a universe of thought whereas you have taken it to be a universe a matter!
